Job summary

Jasper Engines is seeking machinist to operate manual lathes and use basic hand tools to shape metal parts. You will verify specifications, determine machining steps, and select appropriate tools. The role requires vigilance during machining and basic machine maintenance.

The position offers a starting wage of $20.00 per hour, with quarterly wage reviews and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision, PTO, holidays, retirement plans, and an employee stock ownership program.

Qualifications

• Lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50 lbs.
• Stand or walk for the full shift (approx. 8–10 hours).
• Use handheld tools such as drills, impacts, hammers, calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and use basic hand tools.
• Check specifications/readouts for the parts and determine machining processes.
• Calculate shaping of metal or material and select needed tools.
• Load workpiece, set controls, and monitor cutting and machine temperature.
• Watch for problems and perform basic maintenance as needed.

Job Description:Crawford - Converter MachiningJob Overview: There are a variety of tasks this position completes, including operating manual lathes and using basic hand tools. First, a machinist must begin the process by checking the specifications and readouts for the parts at hand. This operator then must make decisions on the type of machining or polishing processes needed to meet specifications. They calculate how to shape the piece of metal or other material that is being worked on and decide what tools will be needed. Next, machinists place the work piece on the equipment of choice and set the controls to make the cuts. While the machining process is taking place, machinists watch carefully for any problems. They monitor the speed and heat of the machine and must be capable of learning how to perform basic maintenance of the machine.
