Job Summary

Assigns work for Company and owner operator trailer drivers for conveyance of freight by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Compiles and maintains list of available drivers.
• Assigns trucks according to availability, purpose of trip, and freight.
• Issues record sheets, and all related paperwork to drivers.
• Troubleshooting and notifying appropriate parties of any changes.
• Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
• Investigates overdue vehicles.
• Directs activities of drivers by two‑way radio.
• Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
• Heavy communication with drivers on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Spanish fluency required. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence; and to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software, MS Word Processing software, and MS Outlook.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be fluent in Spanish for communication with the driver and owner operators.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
