Job description

The role of a Conventional Grinder is essential in precision manufacturing, particularly in the aerospace and heavy machinery sectors. As a Conventional Grinder, you will be responsible for the accurate grinding of critical components, including landing gear parts, using a range of conventional grinding machines. This position is focused on ensuring high-quality finishes and exact dimensional tolerances that meet strict industry and safety standards.

As a Conventional Grinder, your main tasks will be to operate various grinding machines such as gap grinders, O/D (outside diameter) grinders, I/D (inside diameter) grinders, and flat/surface grinders. You will be tasked with setting up machinery, performing precise machining operations on high-strength steel and aluminum parts, and ensuring all work meets the dimensional tolerances specified in engineering documentation. Your attention to detail will be vital in inspecting parts both visually and dimensionally, with responsibilities that include performing clean‑up operations like deburring and breaking of edges to guarantee component quality.

The Conventional Grinder position requires adherence to all safety, hazardous material, and environmental regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines. You will work in clean-room or controlled-environment settings as required, ensuring compliance with company and industry protocols. Maintaining regular attendance, punctuality, and full-shift work is critical in meeting production schedules and targets set by supervision.

Success in this full-time Conventional Grinder role will depend on your ability to read, write, and understand English, as well as your attention to detail and excellent time management skills. You must demonstrate proficiency in interpreting blueprints, shop travelers, sketches, and using inspection tools such as micrometers, dial bore gages, telescope gages, height gages, and indicators. Experience with various plated and thermal sprayed surfaces, including chrome, nickel, and cadmium, is valued. A general knowledge of machine setup, loading, and adjustment is required, along with practical experience in relevant procedures, inspection methods, and materials commonly used in the repair and manufacturing environment.

If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in manufacturing, the Conventional Grinder position is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic setting. This role offers the chance to work with cutting‑edge equipment and play a vital role in producing high-quality, safety‑critical components.
