Job summary

The Baltimore Convention Center is seeking a Floor Care Technician to maintain floors, carpets, and upholstered furniture. The role involves evening, weekend, and shift work with moderate supervision from Crew Leaders and Supervisors.

Responsibilities include cleaning, preventive maintenance on equipment, and keeping maintenance records. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of floor care experience, with certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; commensurate experience may substitute.
• One year of floor care experience focusing on carpet maintenance and hard surface cleaning.
• Ability to read and understand operating manuals for floor/carpet cleaning equipment.
• Ability to operate floor/carpet cleaning equipment after training.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance checks on all cleaning equipment.
• Secure work area and post safety notices before starting.
• Install/replace carpet and tile as needed throughout the building.
• Clean and maintain hard surfaces, carpeted areas, and upholstery.
• Mop, buff, and burnish floors; vacuum, shampoo, and extract carpets.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and reorder as necessary.
• Keep cleaning schedules and maintenance records up to date.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of specialty floor equipment.
