Job description

Summary

We install controls management systems, which typically involves controlling the HVAC equipment in commercial buildings. We are responsible for running electrical conduit and pulling low voltage cables to various sensors used to monitor and control equipment such as boilers, chillers, air handlers, exhaust fans, lights, and more. We pull all wires to electronic controllers where a computer program will monitor and control equipment as needed. Must be able to perform work based on state and local codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must have experience in installing all types of conduits.
  • Perform the installation of conduit, wire, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with energy management systems. Install and mount electric/electronic control devices, panels, sensors, and components. Coordinate with or advise supervision about the requirements for material and supplies. Provide input and assist with the preparation of as‑built drawings. Provide evaluation feedback to management regarding helpers/apprentices.
  • Install Comm links.
  • Address VAV Boxes.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Select proper size wire and conduit for wiring equipment.
  • Must have experience in wiring all types of HVAC equipment.
  • Learn basic HVAC controls.
  • Select the type of appropriate installation material such as supports/hangers.
  • Assist other team members with job duties as necessary.
  • Coordinate the installation activities with other trades at the work location to optimize installation time.
  • Supervise and lead others.
  • Travel to customer locations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary.
  • Travel and overnight stay out of town is required.

  • Immediately address any customer’s concern and request the involvement of other Company personnel as required.
Safety
  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non‑compliance to your Team Leader.
  • Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
  • Proper PPE equipment must be used at all times when necessary.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader and HR immediately.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises field employees in the Controls Electrical Installation department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training.
Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid driver's license.
Language Skills
  • Can read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to perform basic math functions including addition and subtraction.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Has the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Ability to prove U.S. employment eligibility.
