KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the manufacture of consumer foods which comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Understand and support company and site safety policies and perform work-related activities safely. Recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers, and suggest safety improvements.
- Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment.
- Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a GMP environment.
- Perform equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, work orders, and lubrication to maximize equipment performance, and improve activities as needed.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
- Proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of Power Distribution, Studio5000 or Logix5000, Drives and Motion Control, FactoryTalk ME & SE, Ethernet/IP Control Network, and food manufacturing instrumentation.
- Maintain electrical testing equipment and use drawings/manuals for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect resolution, and repairs.
- Participate in training programs, assessments, and maintain qualification standards.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools to eliminate losses and drive root cause analysis, documenting and implementing corrective actions.
- Own technical, safety, or quality systems; build technician skills and provide coaching.
- Create documentation such as SOPs, Job Aids, and PM improvements.
- Attend technical training, vendor visits, and maintenance activities to enhance skills, especially in advanced E&I technologies.
- Obtain and maintain low voltage qualification within 12 months.
- Maintain accurate records using a computer, including parts usage and time tracking.
- Facilitate shift passdowns to discuss safety, quality, and production issues.
- Lead projects to improve safety, quality, or production results.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and assist colleagues when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates or technical degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA, networks, sensors, and instrumentation for manufacturing.
- Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, GMP, and instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform essential job functions safely, with or without accommodations.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
- Regular walking, standing, and climbing; ability to work 13-hour night shifts (5:30 pm - 6:30 am).
- Frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling.
- Tolerance to exposure to flour, yeast, oils, and peanut butter.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally; pass occupational physical test.
- Minimum 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction; pass eye exam.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Temperature varies between hot and cold.
- Moderate to high noise levels; hearing conservation required.
- Operate near/move over machinery and crossing platforms/ladders.
