Job summary

Trane Technologies in Livonia, MI is hiring a Controls Technician to install building automation and temperature control systems. You will interpret drawings, prepare for on-site work, and coordinate with other trades to ensure smooth installations.

Expect travel and occasional overnight stays while delivering high-quality service to clients. Responsibilities include documenting work, maintaining inventory, and repairing equipment on-site.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with 2–5 years HVAC/controls experience or technical training.
• Knowledge of low voltage electricity, electronics and building control techniques.
• Experience with DDC controls systems and building automation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install building automation systems and temperature control systems according to drawings and specs.
• Carry out on-site installation tasks including conduit, wiring, enclosures and end devices.
• Prepare for installation by reviewing site layout and coordinating with other trades.
• Maintain inventory and document all activities; submit time and progress reports.
• Serve as direct customer contact and diagnose and repair equipment on-site to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Keep Trane products and installation knowledge up to date; perform vehicle and tool maintenance.
• Support safety standards and travel as required, including occasional overnight stays.
