Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Controls Technician for the 2nd shift in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The role runs from 2:30pm to 11:00pm and offers a competitive hourly wage with a shift differential.

The job is based at Quanex’s Rice Lake facility, where you will contribute to maintenance and optimization of manufacturing equipment. Ideal candidates have at least two years of related experience or a two-year technical degree, with knowledge of PLC, HMI, and industrial controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience in a related field or a 2-year technical degree.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Proficient in using maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machinery using measurement tools to identify problems.
• Understand and work with PLC, HMI, and variable speed drive programming and installation.
• Maintain existing documentation and develop new documents as needed.
• Perform basic fabrication and maintenance with instruction.

The hourly wage for this position starts at $28/hr (this is including a $3/hr shift differential).

What Success Looks Like:

• Basic mechanical and fabrication skills with the ability to complete basic PMs
• Understands fluid power basics and can integrate them into machines
• Ability to troubleshoot effectively and uses correct measurement tools to identify problems
• Has basic knowledge of industrial controls and wiring practices
• Has understanding of PLC, HMI, and variable speed drive programming and installation
• Is meticulous in maintaining existing documentation and developing new documents as needed
• Can perform basic fabrication and maintenance with instruction

Your Credentials:

• Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience in a related field or a 2-year technical degree
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
