Controls Technician at Nestlé

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Troubleshoot complex drive systems (mechanical and electrical), PLC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs, HMIs, vision systems, X-ray, and power distribution systems. Program, service, install, tune loops, calibrate, develop, implement, repair, and maintain communication networks, instrumentation, control, safety, and electrical systems.
  2. Assist Engineering, Instrumentation, Calibration, Multi-craft, and Cereal Technicians as required. Use and maintain technical documents such as equipment manuals, MSDS, instrument databases, system drawings, Process and Instrument diagrams, PIDs, schematics, one-line diagrams, following the MOC process.
  3. Support projects by participating in development scopes, design, and functional specifications. Perform design reviews, factory acceptance testing, system start-ups, and operational checks, ensuring NEC and safety compliance. Specify, organize, and maintain spare parts for control and instrumentation systems. Work requires close attention to detail and a work pace generally above normal with frequent problem-solving.
  4. Complete all necessary paperwork, including creating work orders, breakdown work orders, checking tasks, entering time, and closing work orders in SAP.
  5. Maintain a clean workspace, clean tools and equipment, communicate effectively, and hand off breakdown work to the next shift.

Attend training to become a subject matter expert in equipment, systems, operations, and maintenance. Train and mentor peers in new technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; 2-year trade school preferred.
  • Specialized training, apprenticeship, or technical courses preferred.
  • Training to obtain and maintain ISA certification is preferred.
  • Effective communication, reading, and writing skills.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing PLC, HMI, X-ray, communication, pneumatic, hydraulic, safety, and vision systems.
  • At least 3 years' experience in industrial electricity, instrumentation, programmable controllers, and electrical drive systems.
  • At least 3 years' experience in mechanical drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication, computer skills, and attention to detail.
