Job summary

Sazerac Company in Carrollton, AL seeks a hands-on Controls Technician to keep high‑speed beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment running safely and efficiently. You will troubleshoot, program, and maintain PLCs (AllenBradley Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal), HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and Fanuc robotics, collaborating with Maintenance and Production to reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical controls and working with Allen Bradley PLCs and Siemens control platforms in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical controls using a multimeter on systems ranging from 480 VAC to 24 VDC.
• Experience installing, replacing, and programming Allen Bradley PowerFlex VFDs, troubleshooting PanelView HMIs using FactoryTalk Studio, and working with servo drives, motors, and control components.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and program PLC systems, including Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal, along with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and other control components.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Fanuc robotic systems and automated manufacturing equipment while supporting equipment startups, repairs, and improvements.
• Lead and participate in equipment troubleshooting, failure analysis, root cause problem-solving, and preventative actions to reduce downtime.
• Read and maintain electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and system drawings using CAD while supporting equipment and controls documentation.
• Partner with Production, Maintenance, and other teams on continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability, safety, quality, and production efficiency.

Job Description/Responsibilities

As a Controls Technician, you’ll help keep our high-speed beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment running safely and efficiently. You’ll troubleshoot and maintain electrical controls, PLCs, robotics, VFDs, HMIs, and other automated systems supporting our bottling, canning, assembly, batching, and logistics operations. This role is hands-on and works closely with Maintenance, Production, and other teams to quickly resolve equipment issues, improve reliability, and minimize downtime.

What You’ll Do:

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and program PLC systems, including Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal, along with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and other control components.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Fanuc robotic systems and automated manufacturing equipment while supporting equipment startups, repairs, and improvements.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical controls and working with Allen Bradley PLCs and Siemens control platforms in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical controls using a multimeter on systems ranging from 480 VAC to 24 VDC.
• Experience installing, replacing, and programming Allen Bradley PowerFlex VFDs, troubleshooting PanelView HMIs using FactoryTalk Studio, and working with servo drives, motors, and control components.

Preferred:

• Experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robotics systems and automated packaging or manufacturing equipment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, NEC/NFPA standards, and industrial control systems.
• Experience with CAD systems, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, and twist while working around manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to safely work around electrical equipment, moving mechanical parts, and industrial machinery while following required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds as needed and maintain regular, reliable, in-person attendance.
