Job summary

Sazerac Company is hiring a Controls Technician in Baltimore, MD to maintain and improve automation systems across manufacturing operations. You will troubleshoot PLCs, instrumentation, and electrical systems, leading technical improvements and mentoring teammates to enhance plant performance.

Requirements include 3+ years in electrical maintenance with PLC experience, strong schematic and ladder logic skills, and a drive to improve reliability, safety, and product quality in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years hands-on electrical maintenance, PLC programming, hardware troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and program plant controls systems (PLCs, HMIs, DCS, VFDs).
• Diagnose equipment issues and implement reliability and safety improvements.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to technicians.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Join a team where you'll play a critical role in maintaining and improving the automation systems that keep our manufacturing operations running efficiently. As a Controls Technician, you'll troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, instrumentation, and electrical systems while partnering with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, safety, and product quality. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical improvements, mentor others, and make a measurable impact on plant performance.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm with occasional overtime

What You’ll Do

• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and program plant controls systems, including PLCs, HMIs, DCS, VFDs, instrumentation, and electrical infrastructure.
• Diagnose equipment issues and implement solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to technicians while supporting high-quality maintenance practices.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, ladder logic, and control system documentation to support maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years of hands-on electrical maintenance experience, including PLC programming, hardware, and equipment troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, high and low voltage experience, and interface with ladder logic.

Preferred

• Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
• Experience in the alcohol beverage, food and beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing industry.
• Rockwell Automation controls training or certification.
• Allen Bradley and Panasonic PLC Experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance.

The hourly range for this role is$38.56-$57.84.
