Job summary

TGW Systems Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Controls Team Lead – Specialized Engineering to supervise a team of engineers in designing, integrating, and commissioning advanced control systems for material-handling solutions.

You will guide project lifecycles from design through production and support ongoing enhancements at customer sites. The role requires a bachelor’s in a controls-related field and 10+ years of hands-on experience in industrial controls, with travel up to 30%

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
Ten (10) or more years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environments.
Proven leadership experience in formal or informal settings.
Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMI systems, and ability to read e-drawings and AutoCAD drawings.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of Controls Technical Lead – Specialized Machines, including scheduling, timecard approvals, and performance management with managerial support.
Design, development, and commissioning of control systems using PLCs to meet project requirements.
Write and debug control applications to ensure proper operation of systems.
Create descriptions of operations for material handling solutions based on customer requirements.
Oversee integration of prototype solutions and prepare handover documentation to Controls Commissioning Engineers.
Provide support for installed systems, performing preventative maintenance and upgrades as needed.
Travel domestically and internationally to project sites.
