Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and PM inspections on BHS equipment.

• Read manuals, service bulletins, and schematics for feasibility and repair.
• Provide on-site training and support as needed.

Salary Range: $42.85 To $51.78 Hourly

JSM Airport Services, LLC is seeking a highly motivated BHS Controls System Technician at Denver International Airport (DEN). This is a career-track opportunity, and we are looking for individuals ready to commit to a long-term professional future with our company, with an expected commitment of at least 1 year. The BHS Controls System Technician is an is an advanced level position with varied responsibilities, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of the airport Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).

Compensation:

• Full Time
• Weekly Pay
• Hourly Rate: $42.85
• City and County of Denver Prevailing Wage Schedule will also apply (up to an additional $8.93 in fringe benefits)

Work Schedule:

Must be able to work as scheduled (this is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation). Holidays will be included if they fall on a scheduled workday. Shift assignments are based on the airport and company requirements, as well as a technician's strengths, skill set, and experience. Our technicians are expected to be flexible in terms of prospective shift assignments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Capable of performing all of the duties assigned to the Entry Support Mechanic (ESM) and Machinery Maintenance Mechanic (MMM)
• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections, dismantling, repair, and rebuilding of equipment
• Perform scheduled/unscheduled maintenance dismantling, repair, and rebuilding of equipment
• Perform cleaning of all parts of the BHS, as well as all surrounding areas
• Capable of readily identifying the following:
• Unexpected system operation
• Resolving operational issues including, but not limited to, Dieback, Grid Lock and Fallback procedures
• Able to troubleshoot, repair, replace, and rebuild complex electro-mechanical systems and conveyor components, including, but not limited to the following:
• Programmable Logic Controllers
• Input and Output Modules
• Electrical Switches
• Variable Frequency Drives
• 110V AC and 24V DC Controls Devices
• Automatic Tag Readers
• Electrical Control Panels
• 110V – 480V AC Components and Motors
• Motor Control Panels
• Photoelectric Sensors
• Sync-Pulse Tachometers
• Laser and RF Readers
• Servo-Drives
• Able to make minor repairs of connectors, wiring and fuses on-site, and clean and perform diagnostic routines of electrical and control system components; remove and replace plug-in type boards and components
• Inspect all BHS equipment for proper operation and performance, including but not limited to, conveyors, lifts, diverters, and automatic tag readers
• Install, inspect, assess, maintain, repair and/or refurbish of all parts, components and/or assemblies within the BHS
• Capable of clearing and resetting mechanical, electrical, and controls faults and baggage jams; may physically move baggage during these failures
• Able to read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
• Control Room operations, with the capability of fulfilling control room operator duties in the event of an unexpected situation where support is required, or an unexpected absence occurs
• Provide on-site training and competency evaluations of Machinery Maintenance Mechanic (MMM) and Entry Support Mechanic (ESM)
• Safety and compliance training as required
• Perform other reasonable ancillary duties to support the operation and our customer

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in BHS Operations and Maintenance
• Familiarity with the interrelationships of electro-mechanical devices
• Capable of using a personal computer to diagnose and correct PLC and operating system software problems.
• Skilled to diagnose, adjust and/or reset improper function (belt tension/tracking, jam, etc.)
• Capable of working unsupervised
• Fully proficient with, and capable of operating, mechanical hand tools, as well as associated tools used specifically on BHS systems.
• Capable of using and understanding electrical test instruments
• Electrician’s license (when work warrants)

Physical Requirements:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
• Frequently lifting/moving items that may range in weight up-to 50 pounds, occasionally up-to 100 pounds
• Work safely in a variety of locations that may include moving equipment and electricity, as well as small spaces, high spaces, dirty spaces, and hot spaces

Additional Requirements:

The applicant must possess a valid driver's license and be able to successfully pass a drug screening (we promote and maintain a Drug-Free Workplace), a ten (10)-year Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), a background check, required federal fingerprinting, a Security Threat Assessment, and airport security badging as a condition of employment.
