Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking an on-site project leader to plan, execute, and close complex customer projects with a focus on safety, cost control, and quality across controls, HVAC, and security disciplines.

You will manage design, programming, installation, commissioning, and warranty processes, coordinating with subcontractors and customers to ensure profitable outcomes and timely delivery. Strong licensing and field experience are required.

Qualifications

  • LSS I: technical associate degree with two years of field experience; applicable access control, fire, video, or systems design experience.
  • LSS II: same degree with four or more years in the field of related systems and commissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Under general direction, act as the on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete projects with assigned customers in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform or delegate tasks to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Be responsible for the overall financial results of assigned projects including costs, project billings, and collections; maintain customer satisfaction and profitable and accurate project financial results; actively pursue selling change orders.
  • Coordinate communication with the customer during all phases of the project; ensure proper execution of warranty.
  • Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary.
  • Ensure work performed is in compliance with the AHJ and applicable Local, State, and Federal legal requirements and operate with high ethics.
  • Adhere to safety standards and ensure Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
  • Assist in the execution of projects across various services (controls installation, mechanical installation, security & fire, HVAC equipment support) within the SSNA portfolio.
  • Complete installation design and software programming using established standards; communicate design and operation to customers and teams.
  • Pursue additional work through change orders; evaluate contractual scope and impacts of directives and scheduling changes; communicate technical and business issues to clients.
  • Manage material selection, ordering, budget, and delivery schedules; secure pricing and availability from outside vendors and subcontractors; oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes.
  • Coordinate job site activities for panel and field device locations; ensure installation meets Johnson Controls standards and project requirements.
  • Manage loading, device verification, and commissioning of system controllers; validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors; provide as-built and commissioning documentation.
  • Manage project costs, billings, and collections; maintain profitability and positive cash flow through best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, and System Designers; support subcontractors as needed; ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget and contract scope.
  • Communicate project status to management; provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
  • Send warranty letters upon substantial completion and ensure proper warranty execution.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate required resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion;
  • Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system and provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors; attend job progress meetings as required.
  • Coordinate with Project Engineers on bundled jobs to deliver cost-efficient solutions that exceed customer expectations.
  • Follow all safety standards and uphold a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Qualifications
  • LSS I: Minimum of a technical associate's degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent related field experience. Must have applicable Access Control, Fire, Video, and/or systems design and commissioning experience. Must have appropriate licensing, certifications, and relevant hands-on experience. Ability to work independently. Strong PC skills. Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
  • LSS II: All of the above with a minimum of a technical Associate's Degree with four years of field experience or six years of equivalent related field experience in the industry.
Salary and hiring details
  • Hiring salary range: $80k-115k. Salary is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market data.
