Job summary

Carlex Glass America, LLC is hiring for a controls/automation role in Indiana. The position supports PLC troubleshooting, robotics basics, and line upgrades in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires an AAS in Automation or related field with 3–5 years of controls or maintenance experience. Benefits include comprehensive coverage on day one and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

  • AAS degree preferred in automation or related field.
  • Willing to enroll and complete on-site or off-site training when offered.
  • Hands-on controls, electrical or maintenance experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow work instructions and control plans.
  • Maintain an organized, clean work environment and support safety initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, hardware and Ethernet systems.
  • Understand motors, drives, and basic robotics programming.
  • Assist engineers with line upgrade installations.
  • Adhere to PPE, lockouts, and e-stops; work in fast-paced settings.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, communication, attendance and reliability.

KEY TASKS
  • Understand and follow work instructions and control plans
  • Maintain an organized clean work environment and positively impact on the plant’s safety initiatives
  • PLC Ladder Logic Troubleshooting, Hardware Troubleshooting, Programming, Analog Inputs & Outputs, Scan Time Functional Block Diagrams, Ethernet.
  • Motors & Drives- basic understanding of AC & DC Motors & Drives.
  • Robotics- Basic Programming, Teach Paths, I/O & Interfacing, Troubleshooting.
  • PC’s- Operating Systems, Hardware, Drivers & Networking
  • HMI’s- Understanding of Basic Concepts, Troubleshooting, Interfacing
  • Assist Automation/Process Engineers with development, installation and programming of line upgrades and line installations.
  • Understands required PPE, location and purpose of all lockouts and e-stops.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to set priorities and goals
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance, attitude, and decision-making skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Education
  • AAS Degree with an Automation emphasis preferred.
  • Must be willing to enroll and complete established on-site or off-site training when offered.
Preferred experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in controls, electrical, or maintenance
Other Requirements
  • Ability to Work All Shifts
  • Valid driver’s license required for business travel
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Cooperate within teams to carry out tasks and responsibilities
  • Overtime may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
KEY COMPETENCIES
  • Basic skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis.
