Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Controls Engineer to design, configure, and operate building control systems across our global portfolio. You will develop wiring diagrams, sequences of operations, and software to meet project requirements, coordinating with field teams to ensure quality and on‑time delivery.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with required experience.

• Design, configure, and operate complete building control systems focusing on HVAC controls.
• Coordinate with field teams to ensure quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs.
• Develop software, commission, and troubleshoot building control systems for proper operation.
• Provide submittals and communication to customers, consultants, and installation teams.
• Create diagrams, sequences of operations, BOMs, network layouts, and schematics.
• Lead site commissioning, training, and handover with owner/operator teams.
• Support value engineering while maintaining customer satisfaction and safety.

What you will do

• Under general direction, responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC Controls to meet project requirements.
• Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs.
• Develop complex software programs, commission, and troubleshoot to ensure proper operation of the building control system.
• Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team, and subcontractors.

How you will do it

• Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
• Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required.
• Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per project intent.
• Coordinate creation of drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned projects.
• Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
• Assist in loading and commissioning of system and network‑level controllers.
• Validate system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
• Provide field change information to the project team for as‑built drawings and software.
• Keep management and contractor or customer informed of progress and issues.
• Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
• Participate in release meetings with the project field team.
• Perform value engineering to deliver cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Adhere to safety standards and maintain high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

What we look for

• Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
• Experience in integration of low‑voltage building sub‑systems using industry protocols such as LON, BacNet, etc.
• Ability to explain technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
• Advanced computer skills, particularly with drafting tools.
• Minimum of five years of experience for the stated qualifications, or an associate degree with seven years of relevant experience.
• Travel to job sites outside the area as needed to support customer needs.

Salary & Benefits

Hiring salary range: $67,900-$101,900 USD. Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, ability, internal equity, and market data. Includes competitive benefits package.
