Job summary

Intralox L.L.C. in Hanover, MD is seeking a Controls Performance Engineer to join the Business Benefits Team. The role focuses on validating performance, driving improvements, and delivering robust control solutions for ARB equipment at customer sites.

You will develop test plans, analyze data, work with mechanical and controls engineers, and present clear results to enable long-term system success. Travel up to 80% and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
At least 2 years of providing technical support at client sites, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment, configure PLCs/HMIs, and related experience.
Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to both design and perform field work.
Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Previous knowledge of commonly used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.
Ability to configure PLCs, HMIs, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.
Ability to problem solve and be creative.
Ability to make data driven decisions on their own.
Proficient in creating field reports that document systems performance and environmental impacts on performance (mail mix/type, operator behavior etc.).
Proficient with remote working tools (Zoom, Chime, WebEx, Teams, TeamViewer or equivalent).
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to build effective relationships with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
A self-managed individual who is a team player.
Ability to travel (20%-80%), work weekends, holidays and overtime when required.
Must have ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and Beckhoff Automation.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support at client sites for new and existing systems.
Lead field installation and commissioning of equipment.
Observe system running under live conditions and analyze performance, making real time adjustments to parameters, code, and system logic to make sustainable improvements.
Support mechanical and electrical subcontractors for installation of equipment at customer facilities.
Support & troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment and systems remotely (phone/remote sessions).
Develop and implement controls upgrades on existing systems.
Lead troubleshooting and repair/adjustment of mechanical and electrical control systems.
Work with other groups for continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Work with Test Engineering Group and perform factory acceptance tests of finished equipment.
Provide design and assembly support for industrial conveyor equipment, as needed.
Create daily detailed reports of the day’s activities as a log of what changes had what impact on overall system performance such that the team can make an informed decision on the next steps to further improve performance.
May be assigned small projects to complete independently.
