Job summary

JR Automation, A Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern/Co-Op for May to August 2027 in Auburn Hills, MI. You will assist and learn from controls engineers, supporting design, build, program, and deployment of automated equipment.

Responsibilities include learning basic programming, CAD usage, and documentation, with strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and on-the-job instruction from experienced staff. This is a paid, full-time internship.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent and currently enrolled in an accredited college program pursuing an engineering degree.
• Willingness to learn and participate in a variety of tasks with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Basic familiarity with CAD and schematic drawing packages.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist with basic programming tasks.
• Support Controls Engineers across design, build, and deployment activities.
• Contribute to team projects with guidance and instruction from senior engineers.

Internship Type: Full-Time, Paid

As a Controls Engineering Intern/Co-Op,you will assist and support other Controls Engineers. Learn from some of the most dedicated and technically competent engineers in the Automation Industry. JR Automation drives change by learning and innovating faster than anyone else. As a member of a project team, you’ll work alongside our Applications, Controls, Mechanical, and Build teams to support the design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.

What You’ll Do:

• Requires a willingness to learn and the ability to be flexible.
• Expected that many tasks asked will be learning experiences, and experienced team members will provide proper instruction.
• Expected to make positive contributions to the company in response to the training provided.
• Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience.
• Learn and perform basic programming skills.

What You’ll Bring:
