Job summary

Convergix Automation Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to join our growing team in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You will work with the Controls Engineering team, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional groups to support project success, documentation, troubleshooting, and integration tasks while learning from experienced engineers.

You’ll contribute to 1–5 real projects daily, assist with design, debugging, and testing, and report to a Controls Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program, seeking a summer internship.
• Eagerness to learn while working with a team to develop custom industrial automation systems.
• Willingness to learn through a variety of tasks, challenges, and projects while supporting your team.
• Talented team player capable of working efficiently with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Willingness to own your own small project, ask for help and not be afraid of failure, but to use that as a way to push forward.
• WANTING to learn, willingness to accept challenges, and “out of the box” thinking to dig deeper into how things work.
• Ability to look past the common way of doing things and innovate as needed to solve problems.
• Target graduation date in 2029 or earlier.

Responsibilities

• Develop software solutions using cutting edge technology and software for various industries.
• Support electrical and mechanical design teams.
• Contribute to 1–5 active, real-world projects on a daily basis.
• Support and contribute to the efforts of the Controls Engineering team.
• Contribute to automation design, debugging and acceptance testing within the department.
• Collaborate with your project team to achieve targeted functional outcomes within defined budgets and timelines.
• Assist with hands-on assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
