Job summary

Convergix Automation Solutions in Fayetteville, AR is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to support the Controls group by contributing to multiple projects and assisting senior engineers. You will work with the Controls Engineering Manager, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional teams to share ideas that boost team effectiveness.

The role reports to the Director of Operations and may require travel within the US and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to 1-5 projects daily.
• Support the electrical and mechanical design teams.
• Contribute to PLC, HMI and Robotics program development.
• Assist with hands-on assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
• Work closely with your project team to find solutions to achieve targeted functional outcomes within defined budgets and timelines.

The Role

As a Controls Engineering Intern, youwill collaborate with the Controls Engineering Manager, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional teams to support meeting the vision of the Controls group with proving insight and ideas on improvements (processes, standards, best practices, and tools) that boost the team’s effectiveness and efficiency. This position reports to the Director of Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to 1-5 projects daily.


• Support the electrical and mechanical design teams.


• Contribute to PLC, HMI and Robotics program development.


• Assist with hands-on assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.


• Work closely with your project team to find solutions to achieve targeted functional outcomes within defined budgets and timelines.


• Given the client-focused nature of the work, employees may be required to work over weekends or outside of standard business hours as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Controls Engineering Co op at CGX should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada


• Enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program, seeking a pre-grad work term.


• Eagerness to learn while working with a team to develop custom industrial robotic automation systems.


• Willingness to learn through a variety of tasks, challenges, and projects while supporting your team.


• Talented team player capable of working efficiently with a multi-disciplinary team.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.


• Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
