Job summary

Wabtec in Oak Creek, WI is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to assist the team with designing, programming, and documenting electrical components for Nordco equipment. You will work under the Controls Engineering Manager and gain hands-on experience with schematics, drawings, and bench-top tests.

This internship emphasizes learning Creo, AutoCAD Electrical, and basic C++ while collaborating with Production and other departments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• GPA of 3.0
• Familiarity with 3D modeling software, Creo preferred
• Familiarity with Promise-E, AutoCAD Electrical, or other electrical schematic drafting software
• Familiarity with C++

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, programming, and documentation of Nordco's electrical components
• Update electrical schematics and assembly drawings of varying complexity within the Controls Department
• Assist in conducting bench-top tests for new and existing components
• Assist in the development of technical publications, such as operator and maintenance manuals
• Work closely with the Controls Department to support Production and other manufacturing initiatives
• Utilize basic computer software to develop or maintain spreadsheets, databases, documents, and to communicate with various departments within the organization
• Acquire, plot, and analyze data with the assistance from a mentor
• Build relationships with people within the organization to help complete tasks
• Other job duties as assigned
