Job summary

Entegris in Burnet, TX is seeking a Controls Engineering Co-Op for the Spring 2027 season. The role is full-time for 6 months, working with established controls engineers to develop and improve equipment programming and documentation.

You will troubleshoot, test, and optimize machine control programs, support daily production operations, and learn across automation technologies while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Exposure to programming or scripting languages such as C++, Python, HTML, Java, PLC programming, or similar technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a desire to learn and troubleshoot technical systems.
• Ability to learn new software, automation platforms, and manufacturing technologies quickly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams.
• Detail‑oriented with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
• Support the modification, testing, and optimization of machine control programs to improve performance and reliability.
• Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to support daily production operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the development and implementation of equipment upgrades, process improvements, and automation solutions.
• Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reliability, and productivity.
• Create, update, and maintain machine, process, and system documentation to support operational excellence.
• Participate in troubleshooting activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.
• Gain hands‑on experience with manufacturing equipment, controls systems, and industrial automation technologies.

The Role:

Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking a Controls Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration. In this role, you will work established controls engineers to develop new equipment programming, update and improve existing equipment programming, troubleshoot existing manufacturing equipment, provide support to manufacturing operations, and keep our documentation up to date.

Eligibility:

• Must be a currently enrolled student.
• Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June.
• Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co‑op program.
• Entegris is not currently hiring candidates for co‑ops/internships who will need, now or at any time in the future, Entegris sponsorship through the H1‑B lottery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able lift, bend, stretch to reach equipment.
• Must be able to use hand tools.
• Must be able to climb ladders and staircases.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
