Job summary

Prysmian Group, a global leader in energy and telecom cable systems, seeks a Controls Engineer for its manufacturing facility. You will manage and monitor control systems, develop logic, and support complex electrical/electronic/mechanical equipment to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities include maintaining system integrity, documenting changes, and leading projects from design to startup. Collaboration with maintenance and process engineers is essential in a fast-paced plant

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming; Wonderware experience a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC/DC/VFD) and relay-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and debug control logic for machine control and modify complex equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Document all control logic work and keep documentation current.
• Provide feedback to management to improve operations and machining reliability.
• Lead projects including design, procurement, startup, and cost control to meet plant objectives.
• Maintain control system and electrical drawings for plant systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics to component level for repairs.
• Use programming tools to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Train process engineers and maintenance staff as needed.

Controls Engineer will manage and monitor all systems and infrastructure for this wire, cable and components manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability.
• Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
• Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
• Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
• Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS - Electrical Engineer, Electronics or Associates degree.
• 4+ years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming. Wonderware is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD) PLC and relay-based systems.
