Job summary

Prysmian Group in the United States is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, maintain and optimize PLC, HMI, SCADA, and related control systems used in fiber optic manufacturing. You will lead improvement projects, support capital installs from concept to implementation, and uphold control standards across the line.

Required are a bachelor's degree in engineering, 3+ years in manufacturing automation, and strong PLC skills (Schneider/Siemens).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, controls engineering, or process engineering.
  • Experience with optical fiber manufacturing (VAD, OVD, AVD, PCVD, preform, or draw) is a major plus.
  • Advanced PLC programming skills (Schneider, Siemens, or equivalent) and familiarity with SPC, process capability, and manufacturing quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and improve PLC, HMI, SCADA, and other control systems supporting fiber manufacturing operations.
  • Lead controls projects for continuous improvement, cost reduction and support capital projects from concept through implementation.
  • Maintain control standards, backups, change management, and documentation.
  • Monitor and optimize critical draw-tower parameters such as tension, diameter control, coating application, curing performance, and line speed.

Controls Engineer:
