Job summary

Prysmian is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Taunton, MA manufacturing facility. You will manage and monitor all control systems, develop and debug PLC logic, and maintain electrical drawings and schematics.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years maintaining industrial control systems.
• PLC programming experience; Wonderware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain OS, software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and debug control logic for machine control and improvements to equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Document all control logic work and keep docs current and accessible.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management to improve operations and reliability.
• Manage projects including cost estimates, design, procurement, installation, startup, and safety.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings.
• Analyze electrical schematics to component level for repairs.
• Use programming devices to analyze PLC programs for improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of critical process variables.
• Provide direction to maintenance in troubleshooting and training.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers and maintenance staff.

Controls Engineer will manage and monitor all systems and infrastructure for this wire and cable manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members.
• Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability.

• Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
• Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
• Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
• Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
• Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS - Computer Science, Engineering or related degree.
• 5-10 years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
• PLC programming. Wonderware is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD) PLC and relay-based systems.
• Create/read/edit PID drawings.
