Job summary

PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, Mississippi seeks a skilled Controls Engineer to support machining and plant-wide electrical and control systems. You will design and implement controls improvements, PLC/CNC programming, and evaluate safety and reliability.

The role requires a BS in engineering, experience with Siemens Step-7/TIA Portal, Profinet and FANUC robotics, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Evening shift; on-site in Columbus, MS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
  • Familiar with risk assessments and safety evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with the flexibility to adapt to conflicting requirements.
  • Knowledge of city, state, and federal electrical codes is preferred. Knowledge of mechanical and safety codes preferred.
  • PLC programming using Siemens Step-7, TIA Portal and WinCCFlex.
  • CNC programming using Siemens Step-7 Powerline, TIA Portal and HMI advance.
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Profinet, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus.
  • Experience with FANUC Robots, FANUC Vision, Cognex Vision, and Atlas Copco tools is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Exceptional computer literacy. Microsoft and AutoCAD desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements modifications to electrical system including robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines.
  • Coordinates and supervises major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions on equipment and facilities
  • Maintains necessary records and documentation, preparing management reports as necessary
  • Implement and maintain computerized PLC and CNC
  • Provide maintenance supervision support as needed
  • Continuous improvement working with IT department and integrated process monitoring systems
  • Follow plant’s standards for filing and maintaining documentation per ISO standards. Maintains up to date machine design documentation for all machines
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes as necessary
  • Prepare, manage and implement capital budget projects. Support Six Sigma projects
  • Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status
  • Work effectively in a high performance work team based environment
  • This is an evening shift position

Requisition Summary

Support machining department and plant-wide electrical and control systems for Heller CNC and Liebherr gantry control systems. Design and implement controls improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.


Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Designs and implements modifications to existing electrical system which includes robotics, automation equipment and CNC machines. Solicits bids, selects contractors, and coordinates with maintenance and production as required. Ensures projects are completed within budget and on schedule, ensuring that the contractor follows all Paccar Inc safety requirements
