Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering (WM) in Reston, VA, seeks a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement control systems for diverse client projects, including PLC programming, panel design, and instrumentation. The role includes on-site startup support and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, creating AutoCAD schematics, and guiding junior staff. Travel up to 50% may be required; BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; 3–5

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 3–5 years' experience in control systems, instrumentation, and PLC programming.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and lead design reviews with clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement control systems to meet process requirements.
• Create schematics detailing control configurations and panel layouts in AutoCAD.
• Develop sequence of operation documents and lead design reviews.
• Perform on-site checkout and start-up with customers.
• Provide system training and develop final documentation for clients.
• Lead automation projects and guide junior engineers and technicians.
• Act as Project Manager on smaller projects ($50K–$250K).
