Job summary

Prysmian in Rocky Mount, NC seeks a Controls Engineer to drive the reliability and performance of plant automation, SCADA, and data systems. You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and networks, lead upgrades, and support new equipment integration to improve uptime and manufacturing efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in Electrical/Controls Engineering and 3+ years of hands-on controls experience with Allen-Bradley, Studio 5000, and industrial networks, plus strong problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, automation engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on controls engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Strong expertise in Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), Studio 5000, HMI systems, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, VLANs).
• Experience with VFDs, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and machine documentation.
• Knowledge of historian systems, SQL, basic scripting, and manufacturing data tools (MES, OEE).
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to support plant operations safely.

Responsibilities

• Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC programs (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000) and HMI applications.
• Support VFD setup, tuning, communication, and diagnostics.
• Ensure structured, compliant controls logic (UDTs, AOIs, modular code).
• Lead SCADA development and deployment; standardize data models and dashboards.
• Lead automation upgrades, retrofits, and new equipment installations; manage timelines and budgets.
• Act as escalation point for controls downtime; develop standard work and troubleshooting guides.
