Job summary

Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc. in Evansville, IN is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team, focusing on design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of power distribution and control equipment for our OEM Division.

You will develop PLC programs and HMIs for hoists, vertical belts and skip loading systems, travel to project sites as needed, and collaborate with vendors while ensuring designs meet customer requirements and internal standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
Advanced degree is preferred for enhanced qualifications.
Experience with PLC programming and HMI development is preferred.
Experience developing hoist control systems and programs strongly preferred.
Familiarity with listed software and tools is a plus; training can be provided.

Responsibilities

Serve as engineer on mid-size and large projects.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working with a team of engineers and designers.
Design and implement control systems for electrically powered equipment, including hoists and vertical belts.
Design job site power distribution for tunnel boring machines, belt systems, and hoists.
Develop PLC programs and HMI applications.
Commission hoists, vertical belts, and skip loading systems on mine and heavy civil construction sites.
Work with vendors to specify and procure components.
Review designs for fit, function, and accuracy.
Ensure all designs meet customer requirements and internal standards.
Test and troubleshoot control systems at our on-site UL panel shop.
Travel intermittently to project and customer sites for system commissioning.
