Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a Controls Engineer near the Oneida, NY area to design and implement machine control systems. You will program PLCs and HMIs, integrate equipment, and lead installation and commissioning across multiple local facilities, with about 30% travel.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree with 5+ years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, PLCs, and HMIs, and familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards. U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

AAS or BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience.
Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standards.

Responsibilities

Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic; Siemens controls support.
Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across local facilities (≈30% travel).
Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time issue resolution.
Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.
