Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is seeking a Controls Engineer to join a world-class manufacturer near the Oneida, NY area. The role focuses on designing and developing machine control systems, selecting components, and integrating automation across facilities.

You'll program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens controls, and HMIs, using AutoCAD for detailed schematics. Expect ~30% travel for installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standard.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.
