Soap Creek Resources in upstate New York is hiring a Controls Engineer to design and integrate machine control systems for a world-class manufacturer near Oneida. The role requires hands-on problem solving, travel up to 30% to multiple local facilities, and collaboration with maintenance teams.

Responsibilities include designing control schemes with AutoCAD, programming and debugging Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and leading installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.
