Job summary

Kelly Engineering is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join a dynamic, expanding organization in the Columbus, Ohio area. The role focuses on planning, designing, and managing automation projects across two facilities to maximize efficiency in production lines and workflows.

The engineer will develop control systems, electrical drawings, and testing protocols while leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with vendors to implement safe, reliable automation solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer.
• Experience in electrical design.
• Ability to lead projects consisting of cross functional teams within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system requirements, electrical schematics, enclosure layouts, BOMs, vendor quotes, and purchase requisitions for new and existing automation equipment.
• Design electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Lead controls projects, coordinate vendors, and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient implementations.
• Develop test protocols and perform system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs.
• Support plant-floor LAN networking and related computer systems.
• Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and employee training materials.
• Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
