Job summary

Marvel Fusion is seeking an engineer to test, deploy, and maintain advanced control systems for its high‑power laser research infrastructure. You will install and commission systems in a new lab, ensuring reliable operation of lasers, diagnostics, vacuum systems, and safety interlocks.

You will work closely with experimental teams, developing interfaces and automated sequences, while advancing system uptime, safety, and performance across diverse projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience deploying control systems for scientific research or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in E-Plan and/or controls hardware design.
  • Proficiency in at least one controls language/framework such as Python, LabVIEW, EPICS, or TANGO.
  • Practical experience with PLC programming, motion control, or industrial automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with hardware interfaces (serial, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, or GPIB).
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Test, deploy, and maintain control systems for Marvel Fusion's laser systems and experimental infrastructure.
  • Install and commission control systems in state‑of‑the‑art labs for reliable operation of lasers, diagnostics, vacuum, and interlocks.
  • Develop and operate control systems to improve performance, uptime, and safety.
  • Collaborate with experimental teams to evolve control systems based on user needs and facility requirements.
  • Travel to Marvel Fusion sites for system integration, commissioning, and campaigns.
