Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Field Technician in Longmont, CO to assemble and test advanced mechanical systems for High Energy Laser technologies. The role uses hand and power tools to build assemblies from prints and BOMs, supports field testing, and involves fixture design and soldering in a regulated setting.

Responsibilities include field testing, documenting results, and collaborating with engineering to improve assembly processes. The position is contract-to-hire and onsite in Longmont.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with hand and power tools for mechanical assembly.
• Strong ability to interpret prints, schematics, and BOMs.
• Hands-on troubleshooting for mechanical and electromechanical systems.
• Experience testing mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.
• Ability to perform soldering as part of build/test processes.
• Work effectively in regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools to build assemblies per engineering prints, schematics, and BOMs.
• Perform mechanical and sub-assembly work with high accuracy.
• Support field testing and travel to test sites as required.
• Troubleshoot and test mechanical/electromechanical systems.
• Carry out soldering tasks to support assembly and test processes.
• Assist with design, assembly, and use of test fixtures to validate performance.
• Follow regulated procedures and safety standards in all work.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Maintain tools/equipment and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Document work performed and test results accurately.
