Job summary

Silver Hills Bakery in Rossville, TN seeks a Controls Engineer to lead design, development, programming and integration of industrial automation and control systems. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and control wiring.

You will be involved in commissioning, testing, and programming of automation, instrumentation, and control systems as well as preventive maintenance for PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs and industrial networking.

Qualifications

Diploma, certification, or degree in Electrical/Automation/Mechatronics Engineering
3-5 years experience in a Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer or similar role within an industrial manufacturing environment
Proven track record of designing, programming and validating machine safety circuits, and safety controllers
Advanced programming skills in major PLC/HMI platforms
Direct experience troubleshooting and configuring VFDs, Servo drives, and industrial robotics
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and TCP/IP networking
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
Proficiency in AutoCad Electrical
Ability to troubleshoot a variety of electrical and mechanical problems.

Responsibilities

Commissioning and startup of robotic cells, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
Mount, configure, and integrate robots and end-of-arm tooling with sensors and vision.
Program and integrate PLC/HMI systems, VFDs, and servo motion with existing lines.
Wire, terminate, and troubleshoot electrical, controls, and mechanical components during builds.
Specify and integrate control panels and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
Provide troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for electrical, controls, robotics issues.
Lead post-commissioning tuning and optimization of equipment.
Conduct robotic risk assessments and ensure CSA/ISO/ANSI safety compliance.
Support procurement and interface with OEMs and integrators.
Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Sanitation for integration.
Create and update electrical/control drawings and as-builts.
Train maintenance and operations on new cells; manage on-time delivery within budget.
