Job summary

Automation Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support automated systems at our Birmingham facility and on customer sites. The role involves working with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, robots, vision systems, and related automation technologies.

The ideal candidate has hands-on controls experience, strong problem-solving ability, and the capacity to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field is preferred.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics is acceptable with relevant work experience.
Two to four years of controls programming or comparable industrial controls experience.
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, robotics, vision systems, and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

Design, program, commission, integrate, and support automated and robotic systems.
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs, including ladder logic.
Perform hands-on integration, testing, and troubleshooting at customer facilities and in shop environments.
Provide customer support during commissioning, startup, and post-delivery service.
