Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and maintain industrial control systems supporting a space-grade network. You will develop control architectures, create detailed schematics, and program PLCs with major vendors to ensure reliable operation of automated equipment.

Responsibilities include integration of robotic systems, testing at factory and site, and driving safety and process improvements across projects. Strong collaboration and clear documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls engineering or related field.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs.
• Strong understanding of electrical control systems and industrial automation.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for automated equipment and industrial processes.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
• Develop control architecture using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks.
• Program and commission PLCs using platforms like Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
• Integrate robotic systems and configure industrial communication protocols.
• Perform factory and site acceptance testing of automated systems.
• Troubleshoot system issues during installation and operation.
• Implement process improvements for system reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in risk assessments.
