Job summary

E2i Inc. is a small systems integrator in the Greater Chicago Area, seeking a seasoned engineer to design, implement, test automation and control systems for process and manufacturing environments.

The role involves PLC/HMI/SCADA software for control systems, electrical hardware design, and collaboration with clients and team members. This on-site position supports multiple industries and offers growth through our Team Member Investment Program and Promotion Plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 5–10 years in process control and automation.
• 5–10 years programming and configuring PLC/HMI/DCS/SCADA (Rockwell, iFix, DeltaV, etc.).
• Ability to read P&ID diagrams.
• Willingness to address on-call requests.
• Strong customer relationship skills.

• Designs, implements, and supports electrical hardware systems.
• Understands manufacturing processes and process instrumentation.

• Maintains at least 80% billable with leadership and sales support.

Snapshot of Position

• This position designs, implements, tests automation and control systems for process or manufacturing systems. This position has discretion over designs and modifications for client projects with Group Lead and client support. It also provides support to fellow team members.

Location & Travel

• Primary Location: Greater Chicago Area (South Suburbs such as Bourbonnais, Manteno, etc.) with the possibility to support clients in other locations

Your Role’s Responsibilities

• Remaining a minimum of 80% billable with leadership and sales assistance

What You Need for this Position

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field
• 5-10 years of experience in process control and automation
• 5-10 years of experience in programming/developing/configuring PLC, HMI, DCS, and SCADA software for control systems (experience with Rockwell, FactoryTalk View SE/ME; iFix, DeltaV, PlantPAx, PCS7, Siemens, or Wonderware is a plus)
• Ability to support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
• Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
• Ability to address on-call requests as needed
