Job summary

Prime Controls, L.P. seeks an Automation Specialist II to design control system details and instrumentation configurations, and to prepare for implementation, testing, and training.

The role involves leading small projects, developing PLC programs and HMIs, and drafting training materials for operations and maintenance teams. A strong background in Allen-Bradley hardware and Ethernet/IP networking is required.

Qualifications

• 4 years Industrial Controls experience in architectural, engineering or construction (AEC) or similar field.
• 4 years of experience in PLC programming.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems.
• Proficiency in PLC Programming including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Familiarity with Ethernet/IP networking.
• Experience and knowledge of HMIs.

Responsibilities

• Design control system details and instrumentation configuration.
• Prepare for implementation, testing, documentation, and training.
• Develop architecture and communication strategy between control system elements.
• Define and document control system functionality with customers.
• Develop BOMs, IO lists, and requirements for control panels.
• Lead small projects and create PLC/HMI templates.
• Develop PLC programs in Ladder, Function Block, and other languages.
• Develop the HMI and testing plans and simulation logic.
• Create training plans and materials for ops and maintenance.
• Coordinate with installation management to ensure processes are followed.
• Test installed systems to verify functionality and trap issues.
• Troubleshoot startup problems and interface issues.
• Train customers on client-specific system integration software.
• Interface with manufacturers and vendors for problem resolution.
• Collaborate to address design problems as needed.
