Job summary

HRU Technical Resources seeks a Controls Engineer II in Michigan to lead the end-to-end lifecycle of automated systems, blending electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic design with PLC/HMI programming.

Responsibilities include creating electrical control packages, hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, PLC/HMI development in Studio 5000 or TIA Portal, hardware integration, commissioning, and project leadership; travel about 25% annually.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (Equivalent experience considered).
• 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical control packages, schematics, panel layouts, and I/O wiring diagrams.
• Design hydraulic and pneumatic circuits for machine functionality.
• Develop PLC/HMI logic in Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal; create intuitive HMI screens.
• Select and integrate sensors, VFDs, servos, vision systems, and safety components.
• Lead on-site commissioning and debugging; travel ~25% annually.
• Manage small to medium projects, ensuring milestones and budgets are met.
• Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing teams for seamless hardware-software integration.
• Prepare comprehensive Operator and Maintenance manuals.
