Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking a Controls Engineer I to join its controls engineering team in Minnesota. This hands-on role develops, tests, and supports PLC and HMI programs for industrial systems, requiring travel to Dayton/Champlin facilities and customer sites.

The position expects 3+ years of hands-on controls experience, a willingness to travel extensively during ramp-up, and a hybrid/remote schedule with 50-75% travel and a salary range of $90,000 to $120,000.

Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on controls, automation, or industrial programming experience.
Hands-on experience developing PLC programs from scratch.
Experience programming and configuring HMI systems.
Working knowledge of Modbus and Ethernet-based networks.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical specs.

Responsibilities

Develop, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI-based control systems.
Write and modify PLC programs based on project and customer requirements.
Support controls projects throughout the full lifecycle including FAT, commissioning, and startup.
Interpret customer specifications and electrical drawings to meet requirements.
Configure controls with third‑party equipment and customer systems.
Interface with customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
