Job summary

Panasonic Avionics Corporation seeks a Controls Engineer II to analyze specifications and direct the manufacturing or prototyping of systems. You will coordinate design, test programs, and feasibility studies for equipment upgrades and new plant tooling.

The role requires hands-on experience with Keyence and Cognex vision systems, Mitsubishi and Omron PLCs, and a strong background in electrical and industrial machinery design. On-site in Sparks, NV with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Cooperate with related departments including overseas.
• Solve issues with first principles thinking.
• Familiarity with wiring, cabling size, terminations and load/temperature requirements.
• Familiarity with NFPA codes (70, 79) and UL standards for industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of electrical requirements in hazardous locations (Class I, Division 2).
• Experience with 480 V panel installations and control wiring design.
• Experience programming, installing, and troubleshooting vision systems (Keyence, Cognex).

Responsibilities

• Program, install, and troubleshoot Keyence vision systems in battery manufacturing.
• Program, install, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Mitsubishi, Omron).
• Analyze specifications to determine feasible designs with existing facilities.
• Feasibility and planning for new or modified plant equipment.
• Provide technical information on manufacturing techniques and process limitations.
• Coordinate with research to resolve problems and develop design.
• Prepare layout drawings and schematics for product systems.
• Direct and coordinate building of prototype products or systems.
• Plan and develop experimental test programs and analyze results.
• Evaluate test results for possible system developments.
