Job summary

Convergix Automation Solutions in Bridgman, MI is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, document, program, and build custom robotic automation systems. You will apply strong controls and electrical design skills and report to the Controls Engineering Manager.

You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, write functional specs, develop PLC programs, debug wiring, and support customers with field service, updates, and technical guidance. Travel up to 90% is expected.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
• Experience developing PLC programs from scratch.
• Exposure to FANUC, ABB, and/or KUKA robotics.
• Comfortable with Siemens HMIs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Understanding of custom industrial machine design.
• Travel up to 90% within US and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, program, and build custom robotic automation systems.
• Develop electrical design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA designs.
• Create functional specifications and sequence of operation documents.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to create robust designs.
• Assist electricians in debugging machine wiring.
• Write PLC programs using Convergix base templates and standards.
• Provide client updates and participate in field service and meetings.
