Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Hickory, NC seeks a Controls Engineer to support design, build, and commissioning of automation equipment within the OCS Technology Automation Development Group. You will work with engineers to develop reliable automation systems that meet project objectives.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, collaboration with experienced team members, and support for high-performance automated equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to travel up to 25% for equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Ability to read, review, and markup electrical drawings and schematics.
• Foundational understanding of electrical principles including power distribution and safety.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E, NEC, UL 508A and industrial safety concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into controls designs.
• Develop and maintain controls architecture documentation for stakeholders.
• Interface with vendors to source electrical components per project goals.
• Design and implement HMIs for control and monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and modify equipment to support development and commissioning.
