Job summary

BrightFarms is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automation across greenhouse operations. You will program PLCs, configure HMIs/SCADA, and integrate sensors and IoT devices to ensure reliable plant control from seed to shipment.

This role requires travel to IL, GA, and TX facilities and on-call support, collaborating with electrical and software teams to deliver efficient, safe systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of electrical systems and industrial automation principles.
Willingness to travel 50-75% and work across sites.

Responsibilities

Design and develop control systems for automated equipment in greenhouse operations.
Program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Integrate sensors, actuators, and IoT into centralized control.
Travel to sites (TX, GA, IL) and provide on-call support.
Lead commissioning and system upgrades.
Maintain backups and documentation.
