At BWI, we are looking for a Controls Engineer for our Warren, MI plant.

Job Duties
  1. Support the maintenance department by troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
  2. Maintain PLC documentation and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in electronic and/or paper format throughout the facility.
  3. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and all components related to automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
  4. Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, such as HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, and assist maintenance in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
  5. Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
  6. Schedule and perform backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs; develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  7. Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
  8. Apply electronic and instrumentation principles to determine malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
  9. Implement and maintain data collection systems from plant floor processing equipment; identify and implement error-proofing measures throughout production.
  10. Participate in a multidisciplinary plant team to determine continuous improvement strategies.
  11. Identify and plan for process impacts due to engineering and launch changes.
  12. Participate in root-cause analysis tasks like 8D to resolve abnormalities.
  13. Contribute to equipment purchase specifications, reviewing controls drawings prior to approval.
Required Experience
  1. Degree in Engineering/Electrical field preferred or equivalent experience.
  2. 5-7 years of related Controls Engineering experience in manufacturing; automotive experience preferred.
  3. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is mandatory.
