At BWI, we are looking for a Controls Engineer for our Warren, MI plant.
Job Duties
- Support the maintenance department by troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
- Maintain PLC documentation and an archive of PLC programs and machine controls drawings in electronic and/or paper format throughout the facility.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and all components related to automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
- Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, such as HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, and assist maintenance in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
- Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
- Schedule and perform backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs; develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
- Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
- Apply electronic and instrumentation principles to determine malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
- Implement and maintain data collection systems from plant floor processing equipment; identify and implement error-proofing measures throughout production.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary plant team to determine continuous improvement strategies.
- Identify and plan for process impacts due to engineering and launch changes.
- Participate in root-cause analysis tasks like 8D to resolve abnormalities.
- Contribute to equipment purchase specifications, reviewing controls drawings prior to approval.
Required Experience
- Degree in Engineering/Electrical field preferred or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of related Controls Engineering experience in manufacturing; automotive experience preferred.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is mandatory.
