At BWI, we are seeking a Controls Engineer for our Warren, MI plant.
Job Duties:
- Support the maintenance department by assisting in troubleshooting equipment issues, including troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors.
- Maintain PLC documentation received from equipment suppliers and archive PLC programs and machine controls drawings in electronic and/or paper formats throughout the facility.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment, including devices, I/O, instruments, and other components related to automated processes to meet production and safety goals.
- Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMIs, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, etc., and assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits.
- Enhance equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
- Schedule and perform backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs regularly, and develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
- Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems.
- Apply electronic and instrumentation principles to identify equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational status.
- Implement and maintain data collection systems from plant floor processing equipment and identify error-proofing requirements throughout the production process.
- Participate as part of a multi-disciplinary plant team to develop continuous improvement strategies.
- Identify and plan for process impacts resulting from engineering and launch changes.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and problem-solving tasks, such as 8D, to address abnormalities and resolve root causes.
- Contribute to the development of specifications for equipment purchases, including reviewing and commenting on equipment control drawings prior to approval.
Required Experience:
- Degree in Engineering or Electrical field preferred, or equivalent additional experience.
- 5-7 years of related controls engineering experience in manufacturing; automotive experience preferred.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs is essential.
