Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking an experienced Ignition SCADA Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will deliver automation, SCADA and controls solutions across complex environments, taking projects from design through commissioning and ongoing support.

The role requires hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, SCADA development, and PLC integration, with the ability to manage full engineering lifecycles. Remote work with travel up to 50% is offered for senior roles.

Qualifications

• Ignition 8.1 and/or 8.3 experience required.
• Familiarity with Ignition Perspective and/or Vision.
• PLC programming experience with Rockwell/Siemens platforms preferred.
• Experience designing SCADA architectures, HMIs, alarms and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement Ignition SCADA applications using Vision and/or Perspective.
• Develop SCADA architectures, HMIs, alarms, trends, dashboards and UIs.
• Configure Ignition Gateway, OPC UA, SQL databases and industrial comms.
• Develop PLC-to-SCADA communications across Allen-Bradley, Siemens and others.
• Design PLC Programs and integrate industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus TCP, MQTT, Ethernet/IP).
• Develop system architecture, specs, I/O docs and control narratives.

Job description

We are seeking experienced Ignition SCADA Controls Engineers to join a growing engineering team delivering automation, SCADA and controls solutions across complex industrial and mission-critical environments.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, SCADA development and PLC integration, with the ability to take projects through the full engineering lifecycle from system design and development through to commissioning and ongoing support.

We have several different working models, and multiple roles that offer;

• Remote working with Travel of 50% (Higher end of compensation for senior travel roles)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement Ignition SCADA applications using Vision and/or Perspective.
• Develop SCADA architectures, HMI screens, alarm management, trends, dashboards and user interfaces.
• Configure and integrate Ignition Gateway, OPC UA, SQL databases and industrial communications.
• Develop and maintain PLC-to-SCADA communications across Allen-Bradley, Siemens and other PLC platforms.
• Design of PLC Programs
• Integrate industrial protocols including OPC UA, Modbus TCP, MQTT and Ethernet/IP.
• Develop system architecture, functional specifications, I/O documentation and control narratives

Technical

• Experience with Ignition 8.1 and/or 8.3.
• Strong knowledge of Ignition Perspective and/or Vision.
• Experience with Ignition Core or Gold certification is highly desirable.
• PLC programming experience, ideally with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000 and/or Siemens TIA Portal.
