A custom automation company is seeking a Controls Engineer based in Rutherford County, Middle Tennessee. In this hands-on role, you will design and implement electrical control systems, program PLCs, and handle equipment startups. The ideal candidate has over 2 years of experience with Controls / PLC systems, particularly with Allen-Bradley or Siemens. Offering a salary range of $95,000 – $115,000 plus benefits. Travel is local with some out-of-state travel required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience working with Controls / PLC systems.
• Strong experience programming and commissioning Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
• Ability to independently start up and commission new equipment.

The Role

As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing, designing, and developing all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. This is a hands‑on role where you will take projects from concept through commissioning, including full equipment startup.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems
• Program, configure, and commission PLC-based control systems
• Perform full equipment startup from initial power-up to final acceptance
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems during testing and installation
• Support automation projects across multiple industries

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of experience working with Controls / PLC systems
• Strong experience programming and commissioning Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
• Ability to independently start up and commission new equipment
• Willingness to travel locally with occasional out-of-state travel (approximately 25–30%)
